Traditional Portfolio Theory may be inadequate in achieving a Client's Investment Objectives.
An Advisor should not blindly follow approaches that are based on buy and hold / academic theory / the Clients Age / or other fixed rules.
The CURRENT Investment Environment is a key determinate of investment performance.
An Advisor must identify and understand the macro investment environment daily.
The Investment Environment changes, and will favor certain countries, asset classes, sectors, industries, and securities over others.
An Advisor should actively manage their Client's Portfolio accordingly.

An Advisor must understand each source in conjunctions with the Investment Environment. There is no such thing as risk free income.

These investors take a long-term view of risk and market volatility. For these investors, capital growth, though welcomed, is a secondary objective. Petrilli Capital looks across the capital asset classes, structure, yield curve, credit curve, and trading strategies to select investments generating reasonable returns versus the risks presented by the investment environment. The strategy may invest in various concentration in worldwide equity securities, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, real estate investment trusts, closed end funds, business development companies, and other “pooled investment” securities, including securities that utilize leverage and derivatives in their activities. The portfolio tends to be concentrated in Closed End Funds. The strategy DOES NOT seek diversification across asset classes, sectors, or industries. The portfolio’s cash position can be 100% during periods of market dislocation.
Investors selecting this strategy are opportunistic, have the patience, time, and resources to handle short to medium term volatility, are comfortable investing globally across a breadth of investment products, including those for the managed income strategy, are comfortable with momentum and tactical investing, and are comfortable with holding cash when called for. With this approach, they are looking for a better return than the S&P 500 index over an investment cycle of five years or more. The portfolio tends to be concentrated in growth sectors and industries such as technology. The strategy DOES NOT seek diversification across asset classes, sectors, or industries. The portfolio’s cash position can be 100% during periods of market dislocation. The short to medium term market trend (“momentum”) is generally more prevalent in the strategy which can result in active trading and will generate more short-term capital gains and losses
